Facial rejuvenation has advanced tremendously over the past several decades. In the beginning, most techniques involved removing or tightening excess skin around the ears, which often resulted in visible scarring without achieving true facial lifting. As time went on, surgeons began to address the deeper layers of the face known as the SMAS, which created more natural results and better contouring. Although this was an improvement, it still involved anesthesia, sutures, and long recovery times.
