Arm Lift Procedure (Brachioplasty)
Fluctuations in weight, growing older, being over-weight, and even heredity can cause your upper arms to be overly large and/or have a drooping, sagging appearance. Exercise may strengthen and improve the underlying muscle tone of the upper arm, but cannot address the excess skin that has lost elasticity or underlying weakened tissues and localized fat deposits. If the problem is the only size, liposuction is the recommended treatment, but if there is also significant sagging, the arm lift (Brachioplasty) is required, sometimes in conjunction with the liposuction.
An arm lift reduces both excess skin and fat between the underarm area and elbow. It can reshape your arm resulting in a smaller arm with smoother skin and better contour, and it can result in a more toned and proportionate appearance. The procedure requires light general anesthesia and the arm is wrapped in a dressing for a few days.
Renuvion as an alternative to the Arm Lift
In mild to moderate cases (minimal loose skin) Renuvion for skin tightening in conjunction with liposuction may be the best solution. Thin younger patients that just want to tighten their arms a bit Renuvion may be used as an alone standing procedure. Facial rejuvenation has advanced tremendously over the past several decades. In the beginning, most techniques involved removing or tightening excess skin around the ears, which often resulted in visible scarring without achieving true facial lifting. As time went on, surgeons began to address the deeper layers of the face known as the SMAS, which created more natural results and better contouring. Although this was an improvement, it still involved anesthesia, sutures, and long recovery times.
